Instructions for Open Competitive
Employment Application
(Last update 06/30/2006)
- Employment Applications for open competitive announcements
may be submitted by the general public for positions currently advertised.
- NOTE: In addition to your Employment Application, a
Supplemental Questionnaire may be required. Check the Job Openings page to determine
if a Supplemental Questionnaire is required for the position for which you are
applying.
- The Employment Application may be downloaded for print
purposes. This is a PDF document that requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader,
get it here.
- You must submit one Application for each job announcement
for which you apply.
- For completion of your Application, the announcement number, the job title
and the closing date are indicated on the job announcement. The closing date
is the VOID AFTER date in the upper left hand corner of the job announcement.
If the VOID AFTER date says "OPEN CONTINUOUS", mark "OPEN CONTINUOUS" in the
space provided.
- If you attach any additional information, be sure to include your name,
the date, and the announcement number on the additional sheets.
- Be cautious in using words, phrases, abbreviations,
acronyms or military jargon known only to your work specialty or location.
Please spell those words or phrases out and provide any explanations
you feel necessary.
- Be sure to indicate your starting and ending dates of employment
(month and year). Also indicate your official job title and complete addresses
for your present and past employers.
- Describe in detail all of your work experience, beginning with
your present or most recent job. Be specific in your descriptions of
duties and responsibilities. Include periods of unemployment, self-employment,
military service, internships, volunteer and summer work. Also be sure
to indicate whether employment was full-time or part-time, and if part-time,
state the average number of hours worked per week. It is up to you to
tell us about your related experience. If you have relevant experience,
skills and abilities, but these are not indicated, they cannot be evaluated.
- For college coursework to be considered, valid transcripts must be submitted
at the time of making application. Failure to submit valid transcripts
at the time of application may result in disqualification. Transcripts must be either an official or student copy issued by the institution. (A legible copy of either will be accepted)
- Note
: Make sure you indicate
only the type of employment you will accept. Also, indicate
only the agencies for which you wish to work. The agency codes are listed
on the job announcement.
